NKF Glow Run 2019

The National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) is turning MAEPS Serdang into a glowing party! The NKF Glow Run which is happening on 20 th July 2019 will take the participants down a luminous 5km route of neon lights, laughter, sweat and exhilaration, with a party atmosphere from start to finish.

Decked in neon paint and accessories, participants will be transformed into glowing piece of a moving, multi-coloured artwork, while make their way through multiple fun zones including the LED tunnel station, lantern lights station, neon liquid station and neon spray station.

Celebrations will continue with a line-up of exciting happenings such as LED swings, glow body paint, food trucks and human hamster wheel, accompanied by the thrilling beats of DJ Alexis Grace. 

Participants can also show further support by literally running the extra mile with the treadmill donation challenge which converts every kilometre covered into monetary contribution to the non-profit organization.

Kenny Rogers Roasters Celebrate CNY With Senior Citizens

CNY is over, but it's never to late to publish a good thing. In an effort to enhance their community initiatives, some 35 residents of Ann’s Care Centre and 20 residents from Little Sisters of the Poor were greeted by Kenny Rogers ROASTERS (KRR) in a heart-warming Chinese New Year celebration with Food Aid Foundation today to spread the joy of the festive season!

The elderly folks were entertained throughout the event with a slew of fun activities by the KRR team members!  The event started off with the classic Chicken Dance performance by KRR, followed by a lively karaoke sing-along session where everyone chanted and hummed from classic to popular favourites during the session. The senior citizens were then serenaded with a familiar folk song, the Rasa Sayang and a dance performance to liven up the atmosphere. 

“Chinese New Year has always been about togetherness and we are thrilled to bring smiles and joy to the residents of Ann’s Care Centre and Little Sisters of the Poor with Food Aid Foundation today! We are also firm believers in the importance to make wholesome and nutritious food accessible to everyone regardless of age,” said Ms. Ling Shiau Yunn, Guest Engagement Manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.

KRR also prepared a special Yee Sang tossing session during the event as part of the Malaysian tradition during Chinese New Year. To further add to the merriment, the elderly folks were given red packets and KRR goodie bags consisting of nutritional food. 

“We can clearly see how the collaboration between Food Aid Foundation and KRR has seen a fruitful outcome. The years of collaborating together have been a heart-warming journey to provide people with well-balanced meals,” said Mr. Rick Chee, founder of Food Aid Foundation.

To culminate the event, the elderly folks and caretakers were treated with 55 sets of KRR’s latest meal promotion, the Golden Teriyaki Chicken Meal and bottled water.

Taylor's University Showcases Innovative and Efficient Food Product Development Methods

Recently, Taylor’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (TCHT) put the innovation of its students in the spotlight at the inaugural Culinology© event, ‘From Ideas to ProtoCept in Record Time Culinology© 4.0: The Next Wave in Asia’. The event, held at the Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, was a joint initiative with the Research Chef’s Association of USA.

Innovative and Efficient Food Product Development Methods

TCHT students presented new methods of producing food products in large quantities with a longer shelf life while maintaining sensory aspects such as colour and smell of various food products. Among the companies present were Guiness Achor Berhad (GAB); Lee Kum Kee; Dutch Lady; agriculture and food product manufacturer, PAP Cashnet Prima Agri; global ingredient solutions provider, Ingredion; and the Halal Development Corporation.

The food innovations presented included an Avocado Grenade which is a deep Fried Avocado Ball with Pepper Chicken Mixed with Jalapeno Cheese Sauce; Spicy Pepper Beef which is Stir Fried Spicy Beef Strips served with White Rice and Pickled Vegetables; Chickone which is a Cone Pastry Filled with Potato topped with Fried Chicken Mousse Ball Cushioned by Gelled Smoked Red Pepper Sauce.

Taylor’s University is the first university certified by the Research Chef’s Association of USA to offer the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Culinology© through its School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (TCHT). The course aims to prepare professionals in the field of food product development, and lead the expansion of the global food industry.

50 Foot Dandelion Arrives In Asia For Heineken Thirst 2012

Wish, a 50 foot LED dandelion has arrived at Sepang International Circuit right on the heels of Malaysia’s premier electronic music festival, Heineken Thirst happening this 8 December.

Installation of the towering structure is in progress & will be ready for its Asian debut. Already a favourite at international music festivals like Coachella Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Nocturnal Wonderland, the 50 foot high Wish will be a sight to behold this Saturday.

Designed by San Francisco public art conceptualist Robert James, Wish consists of ‘three contemporary dandelions that are losing their seeds in the wind’. Clad in aluminium leaves and mirrored glass, the structure is edged with pulsating LEDs that react to the beats of music surrounding it.

“Wish is a figurative sculpture of three dandelions losing their seeds in the wind. As a child, I was always told when you held a dandelion and blew the seeds off, that a wish was to be made. Building it from ground up for the first time here in Asia will be nostalgic and as epic as Heineken Thirst,” says its creator, Robert James.

This year, Heineken Thirst features 12 DJs performing in two arenas with Avicii and Justice both making their Malaysian debut. They are joined by top flight talents from abroad: Above & Beyond, Gesaffelstein, Brodinski and Heineken Thirst alumnus: Goldfish and Blink, LapSap, Mr Nasty and GuruGuru, Phil K Lee, Tommy Cham, Nick Haydez, Jee Hoe and Hypeembeats,

Tiger Woods Is Coming To Mines!

Personally I'm not a fan of golfing, in fact I can't golf. Would love to try it out one day given the chance though. Anyway this post is to share on a piece of news which I've gotten wind of. Tiger Woods will be making his appearance at the Mines Resort and Golf Club from 25th to 28th October 2012 for the CIMB Classic.



Tiger Woods Is Coming To Mines!



This will be second time playing in the same course after emerging as champion in the 1999 World Cup of Golf. The event will be a big boost for the Mines Resort and Golf Club located within Mines Resort City as world renowned players such as reigning champion Bo Van Pelt and Ben Crane of the United States will be joining in line up as well. CIMB Classic will feature 48 players including 30 from the USPGA Tour and 10 from the Asian Tour.

Palace of the Golden Horses and Mines Wellness Hotel are the on-site tournament hotel for the Southeast Asia’s only USPGA Tour sanctioned event. Both hotels will be offering special room rates together with season passes for the four day event.

World Kidney Day Dance Marathon @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Another recent news to spread today. In conjunction with World Kidney Day 2014, National Kidney Foundation Malaysia (NKF) and Celebrity Fitness Malaysia are organizing a Dance Marathon on 16 March 2014 (Sunday), 10am at 1Utama Shopping Centre.

Led by Celebrity Fitness instructors, get ready to dance for three straight hours for a good cause. Monies raised will go towards the betterment of underprivileged patients with kidney failure. Participation fee is only RM 30 per person and registration will close on 3 March 2014. Space is limited to 500 participants.


The objective of this event is to encourage members of the public to come forward to exercise through dancing and to do it for a good cause - i.e. to raise funds for poor kidney patients under the care of NKF.

There will be no winners for this event. This event is to raise funds as well as to create an awareness and educate the public on kidney disease. We want everyone to come forward to exercise, sweat and have fun! There will be lucky draw prizes and every participant will be eligible for the draw.
