P1 Customer Engagement with Google

Packet One Networks Sdn Bhd (“P1”), South-East Asia’s 4G broadband pioneer is taking proactive steps to engage with customers through the latest technology. Using Google+ Hangouts on Air technology to broadcast its corporate event live over the Internet, the company received enquiries from beyond its event venue to as far reaching as New Zealand.

The event themed “Thriving your business in the digital world,” was aimed at reaching out to local SME owners to take advantage of technology specifically in the telecommunications industry to propel their business in the digital world.

Said CEO of P1, Michael Lai at his session which was focused on building a digital organisation using P1’s history and background, “As technology becomes a key driver to growing a successful business, entrepreneurs must embrace technology to leverage on their business partners, products and services as well as their brand. We want to set an example by giving fresh and innovative ideas to businesses. This is one way they (SMEs) can be far-reaching and are no longer confined by geographical boundaries. The best part is it does not cost a lot of money.”

Sajith Sivanandan, Country Manager of Google Malaysia said, “Last year, we introduced Hangouts On Air to a limited number of broadcasters, enabling them to go live on the Internet for all the world to see. Since May this year, we have made it available to Malaysians and it’s fantastic to see people and brands like P1 make use of the feature in lots of creative ways. And they’ve made one thing crystal clear: when groups of passionate individuals or brands broadcast live, the results can be truly remarkable.”

“Convergence of communications and IT is the way into the future. With the growing demand of social media on the digital platform, we also recognise the impact of these channels of communications and already have a dedicated digital care team to manage these sites. Moving forward, we will continue to embrace and leverage more new technologies such as Google+ Hangouts on Air to enhance our outreach to potential business owners and even end-users,” added Lai.

‘Hangouts on Air’ is a free service on Google+ that allows people and brands to broadcast publicly. By checking "Enable Hangouts On Air," you can broadcast your live Hangout —from the Google+ stream, your YouTube channel or your website — to the entire world. Once off the air, Google uploads a public recording to your YouTube channel, and to your original Google+ post for easy sharing and re-sharing even after the broadcast is over.

The P1 event aimed at reaching out to local SMEs to educate them on how technology such as Google+ Hangouts on Air can be a great tool to minimise operation costs. The event also showcased P1’s commitment to embracing new technology and engaging with local SMEs. The event was successfully organised by P1 and Netregy Systems in Petaling Jaya.
